What do children learn about what we value before we ever say a word?

At our Summer Conference, Hannah Chandler, a TPP consultant and Preschool Teacher at The International School of Kuala Lumpur, invited educators to reflect on how our values become visible through the environments we create, the language we use, and the experiences we design.

One reflection from the session stayed with us:

"It's all built on trust. We trust you to use this space and these materials, regardless of how they're 'supposed' to be used."

When our values are visible, children don't just hear what matters, they experience it.

✨ Thank you, Hannah, for leading such a thoughtful session.

Summer Reads: Katie Statman Weil was TPP's Early Learning Conference keynote speaker. Her book, Trauma Responsive Strategies for Early Childhood highlights the tiny transformations possible in our daily interactions with our students, her work resonsates not just with preschool children but all of our students.

Kristi Mraz's work is always one of our go to recommends for centering student's thinking.

Another must read is Dr.Gholdy Muhammad's beautiful book, Unearthing Joy! Go check out Gholdy's page as she has just released a new curriculum: Genius and Joy! It is bound to be full of opportunities to elevate the power of students' capabilities.

✨ Conference Highlight ✨

What happens when educators become learners?

In this breakout session, TPP Studio Coach Belle invited participants to explore one simple material: cardboard. There were no predetermined outcomes, just an invitation to notice, wonder, experiment, and create.

By experiencing materials firsthand, educators discovered the same curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving we hope to nurture in children every day.

Before we invite children into inquiry, we invite ourselves.
