Old Portland Hardware

Picked up pretty cool pair of old strap iron gates a couple of days ago! Solid and heavy!

They'd make a great garden entrance⛩️, plant trellis🌸, permanent Halloween display🎃, or addition to your home dungeon💀⛓️...or all of the above. So many creative possibilities😃

Each half is roughly 31 1/2"W x 78"H.
Combined width is 63"

How about a TINY 1949 Toko Tone camera?

This is a vintage camera that we never even knew existed!
Apparently they were only made in 1948 and 1949 in Occupied Japan. This one even has its original case!! Both the camera and case are in great condition.

A collage of vintage and antique fraternal organizational regalia! We’ve got Shriners, Free Masons, and some Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos (out of England).
There’s A LOT of iconography and symbolism here! I won’t even pretend to know what any of it means 🤷
I will give the dudes credit for bringing a sense of theatrics and mystery to their cool swag!😃 This stuff is just fun.

As a native Oregonian it’s always fun to come across stashes of Oregon centric treasures.
Today’s find is a collection of 450-ish antique and vintage Oregon postcards ranging from c.1900 thru c. 1970. Most are pre 1940

Interesting treasure from the week…
An antique c.1880 copy of “Modern Practical Farriery” by W.J. Wiles out of England!

Over 500 pages of great horse-ish information!

This is from a time when the farrier not only fit your horse with shoes, but also acted as a farm veterinarian. While the book is 97% horse related, there are also small sections on cattle, sheep, and pigs

And that title page? …AMAZING!!

You can’t get much more old Portland than, well, old Portland 😃
Just back from the picture framer is this really cool ol’ 1908 panoramic picture of Portland’s West side waterfront.
From the east bank facing west, on the far left (south) is the old wood Madison St bridge that would be replaced by the Hawthorne bridge a few years later. Front and center is the old Morrison bridge. On the far right is the Steel bridge. In between all those is a cacophony of waterfront businesses, mast ships, tugs,and stern wheelers!
Many decades later, this would all be Waterfront Park!
This panoramic picture is loooong. It measures 57” X 12 1/2”
Definitely a great snapshot of Portland’s storied past!
