Ecola State Park had been a destination I wanted to visit for quite some time. The main outlook most opt to see-as its directly near the entrance-includes a view of the entire Cannon Beach in which the famous Haystack rock lays. Throwback to the first time I'd ever done a longexposure. Something about the effect the process creates feels so unearthly to me. A painting is created simply by leaving the shutter open... a view that couldn't be seen from a human eye... fabricated out of thin air.

I had to share this shot because I fell in love with the rock formations it depicts. Doesn't that large looming structure look as if it could be the face of a gorilla?! Amazing how wild the mind can get if you unleash your imagination.

Happy World Photography Day! 191 years ago the world was changed for the better... the first photo was taken. Ever since then, it has allowed us to capture and preserve historic moments. It has enabled us to revisit the best parts of our lives, allowing ourselves to never forget. The modern world truly would be a completely different place... much of Social Media wouldn't exist and the News would be unable to provide any visual evidence of daily events. It's truly amazing how much a photo can convey and how it's positively affected society.
