Affirmation Series Part 2 - Why do we want to use affirmations? Because you already are.

Have you been wondering why you would want to use affirmations? I have a secret to tell you, you have already been using them. Join me in this video while I share the power of affirmations and how to use them to produce positive change in your life.

In Part 1 of this series about affirmations, we discussed whether or not affirmations are Scriptural and how they build up your faith.

My current affirmations:

I am clay and I am seen.

Can I make a confession? I have a deep desire to be seen and recognized. Yes, this is a typically human desire but I have wanted it in an unbiblical way.

The Lord has been talking to me about this for many years and recently I put myself in a place to be noticed and I was...but it was terribly unfulfilling.

Why? Because it wasn't God showcasing me, it was me showcasing me. I have had times where the Lord has made the impossible happen for me and those times have been such a blessing. They were so fulfilling. They were highlights of my life.

So, God took me aside like a kind father and asked, "How did that feel? Was it what you expected?" I shook my head, disappointed that I had made the choice I did.

But I am walking forward a wiser woman and accepting that I am clay in God's hands. If He wants to break me and remold me in ways beyond what I expect, who am I to question Him? If I am never seen for what I want to be seen for, then God's will be done...just be gentle in the breaking please.

Do you have any affirmations right now that you are speaking over yourself?

To the sister who doesn't like herself and doubts God.

Scriptural affirmations changed me at my core. I used to be full of self-hate: I hated the fierce part of my personality and I wanted to be the complete opposite. I wanted to be quiet and unnoticeable.

I also constantly doubted God and worry plagued my life. Worry motivated just about everything I did and it drove me to a place where I worked too much to pay the bills.

But then something changed, I started speaking God's Word over myself in the form of affirmations. Affirmations brought me to a place where I trust God wholeheartedly and I genuinely like myself. I like myself so much that I don't need you to like me.

In fact, I can be me unashamed and unapologetically because I don't need your approval. I am approved by the lover of my soul.

Now, the only needs I have are the ones only God can fill...and He always does. I don't worry about paying the bills or if we'll have food on the table (the road of self-employment can be hard, though!).

If you are dealing with self-hate or doubting God, I strongly suggest beginning to speak affirmations over yourself.

I have 2 sets of printable affirmation cards I designed that would be helpful. The first is the "Self' set and the second is the "God" set. Check them out through the link below or in my profile.

What's in a name?

This is one of my favorite things about the Read the Bible in One Year Journaling Bible: I can look back on my life over the past year.

The year I began reading this Bible I was pregnant with my 1.5 year old. We knew he was a boy, and being our fourth boy, we were lost for a name. I scoured my Bible for something unique and powerful.

Jashobeam was one of our choices because he was one of David's mightiest warriors. In the end though, we chose Emet, which means truth. It is the first, middle, and last letter of the Hebrew alphabet symbolizing that truth is all-encompassing.

Even though we chose a different name, it brings a smile to my face remembering this. I love seeing God's faithfulness to us over the years and this journaling Bible helps me bring His faithfulness to my memory.
