This week’s takes us into the Cummins Creek Wilderness in the heart of Oregon’s Coast Range ecoregion — a landscape shaped by ocean air, steep forested ridges, and some of the wettest conditions in the state. The Cummins Ridge Trail climbs through old-growth Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and Douglas-fir, offering a glimpse into the only old-growth Sitka spruce forest in Oregon’s Wilderness system.
