Environment Oregon, a project of Environment America, is a policy and action group with one mission: to build a greener, healthier world.
This week’s takes us into the Cummins Creek Wilderness in the heart of Oregon’s Coast Range ecoregion — a landscape shaped by ocean air, steep forested ridges, and some of the wettest conditions in the state. The Cummins Ridge Trail climbs through old-growth Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and Douglas-fir, offering a glimpse into the only old-growth Sitka spruce forest in Oregon’s Wilderness system. Along the way, salmon and steelhead streams wind toward the Pacific, while summer wildflowers brighten the lush green forest. Take action to protect places like this at the link in our bio.
