A week ago, I had the opportunity to visit Portland with Katie to judge an aerial competition.

We hiked the Cascade Head Trail with our friend Erica, who just happened to be there at the same time. The trail winds through lush coastal forest and opens up to incredible ocean views along the Oregon coast.

And then we saw a pod of whales right off the shoreline. One of those moments that just stops you in your tracks.
This trip felt grounding and restorative. I’ve really been missing the trees, and this was a reminder of how much I need nature.

When people ask me what there is to do in Sioux Fall, I realized I haven’t been very good about sharing lately 🙈

Since we’ve moved back, we’ve been getting out and exploring again, and here are a couple fun places we’ve been to recently:

• Sky Zone Trampoline Park – Always a hit. High energy, fun for the kids, and a great way to burn off some energy

• Reptile Adventure Zoo – This one is new and such a cool experience. You can get up close with reptiles, and they even have interactive exhibits and animals you can hold. Definitely something different and fun to check out.

I’m making it a goal to start sharing more local things again because there’s actually a lot to do here, I've just been off (and grumpy/sad) with all of the changes in the past few months.

Lylah and I have our bonding activity, but I wanted that same connection with my Rylen in something he loves.

So I stepped into his world. Ninja and parkour at .

It hasn’t been easy. There have been plenty of physical and mental obstacles to overcome. But every week gets a little better. And my son has been my biggest cheerleader.

Sometimes growth looks like letting your kids see you try, struggle, and keep going anyway.

What’s something your child loves that you’ve been brave enough to step into? 💛

Moments like this are what Wandering Past Limits is all about. Stepping outside comfort zones, embracing new experiences, and letting real life be the classroom. Watching Lylah take this leap was a beautiful reminder that confidence and growth are built by saying yes.

We waited out the snowstorm and didn’t hit the road until everything looked safe. The campground we were staying at had plows running all day and kept the roads and sidewalks salted, so we felt confident towing a day after the storm passed. The highways were clear, traffic was smooth, the sun was out and we had reservations at our next campground—no reason to think anything would go wrong.

But the moment we entered the park, everything changed. The road immediately dropped downhill before climbing back up to the campsites… and not a single plow or bit of de-icing had been done. By the time we realized it, we were already sliding on solid ice with the weight of the rig behind us. It was terrifying and genuinely dangerous.

Thankfully, we managed to get out safely and leave, but it was a serious reminder: winter travel is no joke. Always call ahead—even if the main roads look perfect.

❄️ Be careful out there, winter travelers.
