We will be open regular hours for viewing The Price of the Ticket, the Artistsโ€™ Biennial and a response to the 250-year anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For this special Biennial First Saturday, interdisciplinary artist Jaleesa Johnston activates her installation ๐˜Š๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ with a performance titled ๐˜ž๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ด๐˜ต ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด. โ

Created in reverence of Toni Morrisonโ€™s Beloved, the work draws on the moment when Baby Suggs gathers the newly emancipated in a clearing to preach love of oneโ€™s own flesh. Within the galleries of Oregon Contemporary, Johnston creates her own clearing, inviting us to return to our bodies and find love despite a world that may resist it.โ

In addition to the Biennial, new exhibitions will open at our neighboring galleries, Well Well and Carnation Contemporary
