Founder of Dolfun Dynamics, DolFUN SWIM Academy, Debbie Sayers, recently attended the International Swim Schools Association (ISSA) Spectacular Conference in Cascais, Portugal—and we’re incredibly proud to share that she received the ISSA Open-Source Excellence Award.
This global recognition honors leaders who advance aquatic education through collaboration, transparency, and the sharing of knowledge. Debbie’s work focuses on making swim education more accessible by openly sharing tools, curriculum, safety frameworks, and teaching methodologies that support the mission to “Teach the World to Swim.”
Her commitment to building scalable, community-driven impact helps elevate swim schools and instructors around the world—and we couldn’t be more proud to see her recognized on an international stage.
MAY IS NATIONAL WATER SAFETY MONTH
DolFUN Swim Academy is proud to participate in National Water Safety Month every May, joining aquatic organizations across the country in a nationwide campaign focused on drowning prevention and water safety education.
During the month of May, we will be teaching a special water safety curriculum. Each week, swimmers will focus on a different set of essential safety skills, including boating safety, proper use of life jackets, identifying safety points, escaping potential entrapment situations, and practicing clothes-on water entries.
This class is learning about Life Jackets (PFDs) & Boating Safety.
Swimmers practice wearing a life jacket, floating, and swimming in it, and learn what to do if they fall from a boat.
Life Jackets should ALWAYS be worn in open water including lakes, rivers and oceans. Many local beaches, including Hagg Lake and Oxbow Park on the Sandy River have life jackets you can borrow. Only use USGC approved life jackets. Cold water and current can make open water dangerous for even experienced swimmers which is why properly fitted life jackets are vital.
