A recent article, featuring our CEO, highlights a growing reality across the country: millions of families live in communities where there simply aren't enough licensed childcare options to meet demand.

This isn't just a childcare issue.
It's a workforce issue.
It's a business issue.
It's an economic development issue.

When parents can't find affordable, reliable childcare, they are often forced to reduce work hours, leave the workforce, or turn down career opportunities. At the same time, employers struggle to recruit and retain employees, and children miss out on the benefits of high-quality early learning.

Here in Dutchess County, more than half of our census tracts are considered childcare deserts, reinforcing what many families and providers experience every day: the need for greater investment in childcare has never been more urgent.

At CFD, we're working alongside providers, employers, community leaders, and policymakers to build solutions that expand access, strengthen the early childhood workforce, and recognize childcare as the essential infrastructure that supports thriving families and a strong economy.
