Graystem Farm

I know it's not Flower Friday but we have some lovely blooms available today in $10 single type bunches to mix and match. Sunflowers, soft and deep pink lisianthus, native mint (not edible), a few gladiolus and zinnias. Also available are slicing and pickling cucumbers and SECKEL Baking Pears! They're not supermarket beautiful but they are sweet, perfect bakers and long keeping. If you have a favorite zucchini bread recipe, substitute these pears for the zucchini and your taste buds will love you. Very limited availability on the pears. 4 to 6 o'clock today. Route 13 West between Kisra/Brackett's Bend intersection and Hideaway Lakes subdivision.

Attention Fellow Bearded Iris Fans!

The rhizome sale originally scheduled for this weekend will be rescheduled to August 1st.

The weather has been so uncooperative this season and I know you are all sharing our pains! We've been unable to dig and divide our rhizomes with such dry soils, but now that it has rained a bit, we'll be working hard to get it all done. We've chosen Saturday, August 1st as the new date for the rhizome sale so as not to compete with the Fredericksburg Iris Society sale on July 25th.

Friday Flowers will be open today at our 13 West Flower Stand 4 to 6 p.m. Look for Hyacinth, our flower truck. She's got lots of color for you! Barbie fans and pink lovers will be really happy with our pink lisianthus.

We'll have bunches of sunflowers, canning jar cuties and even some veggies available if you missed the market yesterday.

Tomorrow marks not only the 250th anniversary of the USA, it also marks the start of the lavender harvest here on the farm. We will be closed until the middle or end of August depending on how long it takes to harvest it all.

It's Sunny Summertime!

Summer bouquets and cucumbers for slicing will be available at the farmstand tomorrow. Route 13 west near Hideaway Lakes subdivision. 4-6 p.m. An easy quick stop on your way home from work.

Wish it was a sunny day but the flowers really need the rain. Most of the Spring blooms are finishing up and the summer flowers are still a few weeks away. Since we can't work with wet soils I decided to practice arranging with what I can pull from the field. I think it came out pretty good.

Had a lovely Mother's Day doing one of the things I love...playing with flowers. Getting out in the garden, gathering a bit of this and a bit of that then filling little glass bud vases. Mixing, matching, no deadline, no set color scheme just relaxed playing.

Hope all of our Moms got to enjoy their day too!
