is a global, student-driven event led by CNN to raise awareness about modern-day slavery, with the 2025 theme focusing on "Freedom to Learn". Students worldwide participate through social media, events, and educational activities to combat trafficking and forced labor
We at KRISHNAA Foundation continue to explore different avenues that can fund our various welfare and educational initiatives during these difficult times.

In the meantime, would like to share some captures during the General Secretary’s (Sucharita Bhattacharyya’s) visit to Kolkata in February of 2026.
President Kumkum Sen was also present that day at the Centre, kudos to her incredible energy and unwavering dedication towards this cause. The Foundation has grown by leaps and bounds since its formal inception in 2021, and thanks to our supporters we have been able to establish a serious literacy as well as computer literacy program.

We would like to sincerely thank our supporters for their continued support 🙏🏽🙏🏽
A huge shout out to our dedicated project manager Soma Saha and fearless boots on the ground Kaplana and nurse Helen S***a to keep the ball rolling at our Kaalighat site in Kolkata
against slavery

Today Urmi Dutta visited the s*x workers’ place at Kalighat, a red light district in Kolkata. We from Krishnaa Foundation, in collaboration with Chalchitra Academy, organized a folk art workshop for the kids. It was a fantastic experience to see how these little kids painted with so much excitement and concentration.

This work was based on the theme of “Shashthi puja,” a ritual in which People worship Shashthi to ensure a child’s well-being. A cat is an animal associated with Shashthi. Today, in this workshop, kids learned about “Brotokotha Alpana.”

All these paintings were done directly on the paper using a brush (without prior pencil sketching) and khorimati. Khorimati is a special type of white clay mainly used to create Alpana, a traditional form of Bengali folk art. The special textile paper was prepared by smearing a layer of clay on the paper.

We were happy to have the artist Bidhan Biswas from Chalchitra Academy as today’s instructor for the kids.

On July 22nd , our trustee member Indrani Chattopadhyay sponsored a Mishti Mukh to celebrate the joyous occasion of her son’s wedding ; to all our beneficiaries ( the Kalighat mothers, the children and our Kolkata staff). A sweet-and -savory filled box were distributed to all of them, and they were very happy! God bless the newly weds!
