EVERYONE— I need your help to choose my “look” for my newest character MARY DOWLING.
I’ve just been invited to premier Mary at the 2026 Corn Island Storytelling Festival at 3rd Turn Brewing on August 29. Mary was an outstanding Kentucky woman at the start of the 20th century who owned and ran a bourbon distillery in Lawrenceburg - something a lady of those times just didn’t do. Her adult life spans 1910, 1920, and 1930s so her “look” is completely different throughout her journey.
Below are some costuming ideas I’ve had. I need your help for me to choose just one to portray her amazing story. Help me out and give me your idea of number 1, number 2, or number 3.

HISTORY CENTER CELEBRATES ITS MEMBERS
Buckner - Smiles, friendly chatter, and a generous helping of holiday cheer filled the Oldham County Country Club in Buckner as the Oldham County History Center welcomed members and friends to its annual holiday celebration.
Guests were greeted with warm wishes at the door, chances to win festive door prizes, and first-run copies of the History Center’s 2026 Almanac. Executive Director Nancy Theiss, Assistant Director Dabney Clore, and Board President Kevin Eldridge mingled throughout the evening, joined by Ann Cannon, Office Manager, and Stephanie Selbride, Library Archivist, making sure everyone felt right at home.
The evening also offered an exciting glimpse of what’s ahead. Attendees heard announcements about the return of the popular river history cruise aboard the CQ Princess and an impressive lineup of upcoming educational programs. Topics will range from genealogy and Native American culture to World War II, Black and Hispanic history, and longtime favorites like the Hidden History of La Grange and the Underground Railroad.
Organizers shared that the gathering was both a heartfelt thank-you to OCHC members and a celebration of the year to come—one focused on preserving Oldham County’s stories and strengthening a shared sense of place and connection within the community.
