**MEET A FELLOW** Marielle Burt ’19
Marielle has been a devoted fellow for three semesters now. “Hot take but I really loved fellowing Burden of Disease in public health. They write these super long papers (~20 pages) but people were so into their projects; I learned so much while fellowing!” Following in the spirit of knowledge, Marielle is taking her first science course this semester (Plants, Food, and People - another fellowed course)!
To write down her new-found thoughts, she holds her idea notebook near always. “I had classy black — yes, I’m a scholar — and then I thought we shouldn’t take ourselves quite as seriously. Your ideas are also gonna be more fun by extension.” Marielle now totes a neon yellow idea notebook, which she sometimes takes to the golden-molded reading room in the Providence Public on Empire St. “I’m a big scribbler and I don’t even think my notes are useful to me but I find it cathartic? Useful? Maybe? Just fun.”
At the time of these photos Marielle was off to bake bread for the first time, a scheme to have a little more fun. “It’s all part of the process: draft, dialogue, revise! It should be mix, knead, rise. You gotta let the ideas percolate.”

~~ a super-cool mix as super-cool as Daven!
Her favorite course to fellow was Health and Hispaniola, an FYS: "I like working with first-years a lot because I feel like they're so excited to grow 🌱 as writers. It's fun to work with them!" She also enjoys fellowing science courses: "I don't do science, so I learn a lot!"
Daven has a stuffed dog named Hugs that her parents gave her for Valentines' Day when she was, like, 9. ❤️
"I bring him everywhere, he's always in wherever I'm living."
Where does she live now? Dangerously close to PVDonuts... O_o
"I was just there this morning *laughs*. [When you asked me what my favorite place in PVD was], I was going to be like, 'India Point Park!' Then I was like, 'No... let's be honest here.'" :')
