A Father's Pain

Chest ripped open the pain does not subside
Small hands small feet never to be felt
Never to breathe in the warmth and laughter
My Lord how can I live with this pain
Always there ever present waiting...waiting
To never feel whole, the loss of interaction
To die a thousand deaths to rid the pain
Absolute joy when I am with
Terminal sadness when apart
Asphyxiated without them
Coughing, choking, dying without them
Pray for sleep, drown out the pain

I cried again, I can't help it
I tried not to but I just couldn’t stop
My head in my hands, I cried tears rain down
This place that I am in
It’s harder than I ever thought possible
I can’t catch my breath,
I can’t remember the last time my thoughts were clear
I try to reason with my mind
I tell myself tomorrow will be better
But I can’t see passed today
The stress and worry, deep inside I die
My body, my soul, my heart aches when they are not here
i feel their little arms wrapped around my neck...my mind hears their cry, I jump up to look for them...I stand there no one is there
