Self-Help Homes

On March 23, 2026 USDA-RD announced that income qualified families can now get "other affordable financing" above the USDA mortgage loan limit to get into a Mutual Self-Help Housing home. Home valuations can now also exceed the loan limit. Both these announced changes reopens the door to home ownership in areas served by Self-Help Homes.
