Last month I went to the Provo Airport to shoot some planes taking off, and this was the view behind me — a brilliant mixture of blue and gold. Worth capturing.

Last summer I went with my family to Havasupai and spent an evening with my dad and cousin .and.adams photographing this beautiful landmark. It was my cousin’s suggestion to get the tree in the foreground, which made for a great composition. I put the camera on a 10-second timer, ran a few yards off, and used a headlamp to light paint the tree and the falls. I love the end result. This is by far one of my favorite photos I've ever taken. I took this in the summer, and woke up at 4:30 to be there in time for the sunrise. This picture really happened by accident -- it was only after several disappointing shots that I noticed the sun rays peeking from behind the steeple. It was literally a matter of about 15 seconds between pictures that made the difference with the sun peeking behind the steeple just right. If you look to the left, you'll see the Y on the mountain, representing Brigham Young University. Camera: Canon t3i. Lens: 50mm 1.8.
