Stop Complaining
It’s difficult to be around someone who is always complaining, never satisfied with life. In fact, most people try to avoid them altogether because it is emotionally draining to hear someone constantly whining. Nothing is ever “good enough,” and they find fault with everything. They complain about their spouses, their jobs, their finances, and just about everything else. Whiners and cry-babies are just not happy people, and as long as they insist on seeing the glass half empty instead of half full, they will never be happy. They can get into such a complaining rut that they no longer even recognize how negative they are. What a difference their lives would be if they learned to praise God for all the good things in their life! The apostle Paul set a good example when he described himself in Philippians 4:11 as having learned to be content no matter what his situation might be. God made it very clear about how He feels about complaining in Numbers 11:1: “You have said that when the people complained, it displeased You.” And in Philippians 2:14 and 15, the Bible says, “Do all things without complaining and disputing.” Ask God to give you the victory over whining and to help you speak kindly and politely, being sensitive to the feelings of others. Become a positive person and allow God’s sweet, gentle spirit to flow from your heart. May the words of your mouth cease to complain, bringing God continual praise. Text: Hebrews 13:5, Philippians 4:11, Numbers 11:1, Philippians 2:14, 15

Conversation with God
What a privilege it is to have full access to the King of the Universe! And although God in all His glory has an endless amount of critical and important matters to attend to, He wants to hear from you! In fact, it is God Himself who gave you this gift of open communication with Him. That’s because He loves you and wants to hear from you. He is interested in everything you do and say and can’t wait for you to tell Him about your day! He wants to hear the details, and you can trust that He doesn’t see you as a pest or a bother. One thing you can know for sure is that God doesn’t glance down at His cell phone and see your name, then roll His eyes while He pushes the decline button! Rather, He gets excited knowing you, His beloved child, is reaching out to Him. The Bible says in Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” And in 1 John 5:14 we are given this assurance that God not only listens, but He hears us; “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” Make no mistake, God wants to communicate with you! He loves you and wants you to share what is on your heart, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. And don’t forget to listen, for real communication is a two-way street! So start your conversation with God today. He can’t wait to hear from you! Text: Mark 11:22-25, Matthew 6:6-8, James 5:13-18, Romans 8:26-27

Acceptance of Others
There’s a lot of talk these days about being accepting of others. Views on death penalties, politics, illegal immigrants, alternative lifestyles, legal abortions, or anything else people want to live or believe in must be accepted. If you disagree with someone on any topic, then you are accused of being intolerant. But that’s not what being intolerant really means. Tolerance doesn’t mean you support or are in agreement with others - you merely recognize their right to believe what they choose to believe in. You can be accepting of the rights of others even if you are adamantly opposed to their way of thinking. Remember, you are only responsible for your own actions, so leave the correcting of others up to God. There is a fierce battle going on between good and evil, but as Christians, we know it is a battle God will win. The wickedness of this earth will soon be over - Jesus is coming soon. In the meantime, we need to learn to get along with people who don’t share our opinions, and when we do engage in conversation, make sure it is done peacefully. Recognizing and respecting the rights of others doesn’t stop you from believing in what you know to be right. Be a person of integrity and live your life according to what is pleasing to God. Stand up for truth even if you are the only one standing - but leave the fighting to God. Text: Matthew 7:1, John 8:6-7, 1 Peter 3:8-11
