Our sibling Qween Jean πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸ‡πŸ‡Ή is a winner!

Tonight, Qween Jean () won the Tony Award for best costume design of a musical on Sunday for her work on β€œCats: The Jellicle Ball.” The costume designer and activist has become the first openly transgender person to win a Tony, according to the show's publicist.

She joins a small group of Black trans and gender-nonconforming artists honored by the awards, including L Morgan Lee, J. Harrison Ghee, and Alex Newell.

For the q***r ballroom-style revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, Qween Jean created 500 looks, including extravagant accessories like an immense free-standing leopard purse, and clothes hand-decorated with references to trans pioneers and revolutionaries, including Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P. Johnson, and Miss Major Griffin-Gracy.
