When adults talk openly about emotions in healthy ways, children learn that mental health is part of everyday life.

Having all family members, including the parents, talk about what kinds of things they’re struggling with or dealing with themselves will normalize the conversation for children, too.

Simple check-ins can happen naturally:
🍽️ During dinner
🚗 In the car
🛏️ Before bed
🚶 While walking or doing activities together

For some children, side-by-side conversations feel safer and less intimidating than direct face-to-face discussions.

Make talking about mental health and any struggles that may be occurring a normal part of conversation within the home.
