Congratulations to all of the Richmond County students who have been awarded the Golden LEAF Foundation Scholarship! This honor reflects years of hard work, determination, and commitment to their education — and I am proud to see them continuing their studies at outstanding colleges and universities across North Carolina.

These students represent the very best of rural North Carolina, and I look forward to all they will accomplish as they pursue their goals and, in time, give back to the communities they call home.

Six Richmond County students earn Golden LEAF scholarships | Richmond County Daily Journal RICHMOND COUNTY — Six Richmond County students have been selected to receive up to a $14,000 Golden LEAF Scholarship, along with 209 other rural North Carolina students.

I’m proud to have voted ‘yes’ as the NC House overrode the Governor’s veto of HB 87 — protecting educational choice for North Carolina families.

Every student is different, and parents should have more options when it comes to their child’s education. This legislation helps create more opportunity and strengthens parental involvement in the classroom.
