Three weeks ago, I parted ways with WhoHire. A week later, my relationship ended. Years ago, these events would have wrecked me. I would’ve spiraled, numbing the pain with alcohol. But today? The opposite happened.

When I saw the transition coming, I hit my knees, asked God for guidance, went to a meeting, called my sponsor, and leaned on my network. When my relationship ended, I did the same thing.

I’ve never been more in the middle of my recovery or closer to God than I am now. In the past, I resisted asking for help—and suffered longer because of it. This time, I took action, and it worked.

You might think I’ve had a streak of bad luck, but I see it differently. Sometimes what feels like the worst thing ends up being the best thing. When I focus on helping others without expectations, that’s when the magic happens.
