Help us welcome Steven Shannon as the permanent department head of NC State Nuclear Engineering. While already home to prominent researchers and developments, the department is on an even sharper upward trajectory.

Their internships are supported by NC Space Grant, a federal partnership between NASA and that state of North Carolina that gives students opportunities to fast track their careers.

ECG sensors are used to diagnose illnesses or monitor the progression of recovery, meaning they're worn sometimes for hours or days. This can lead to skin irritation and discomfort for patients on top of generating less effective readings as time goes on. A new heart monitoring sensor that conforms to the skin will be more comfortable to wear and accurate for longer. http://ncst.at/k3cW50Z90Om

ICYMI: Congratulations to Richard Kim!

🎉 Congratulations to Professor Richard Kim on winning the 2026 O. Max Gardner Award. The award is the highest honor the UNC System’s Board of Governors confers on faculty.

Kim is recognized for his contributions to improving roadway infrastructure around the world. His performance modeling and test method innovations extend the life of highways, reduce costs, decrease environmental impacts, increase safety and improve the daily lives of millions.
