Today is International Day of Action for Rivers!!
Here are some quick actions you can do to help our local waterways!!
1. Reduce or eliminate use of fertilizers and chemical herbicides. (These are huge sources of nitrogen and phosphorus pollution and create toxic runoff)
2. Participate in local river, stream, waterway cleanups.
3. Scoop you pet p**p. Pet p**p that washes into waterways create harmful nutrients and bacteria in the water.
4. Clean debris out of your neighborhood storm drains. These drain directly into local streams and other waterways.

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 Tell Gov. Cooper: Eliminate unnecessary plastic in state agencies!
Single-use plastics are harming our planet and
communities at every stage of their lifecycle. Production
of single-use plastics is not only contributing to climate
change but poisoning minority and low-income
communities. After being used for mere minutes, these
plastics end up buried in landfills, burned, or polluting our
environment.
North Carolina can and should lead the way in moving
beyond plastics: urge Governor Cooper to take executive
action today to eliminate single-use plastics in our state
agencies! Visit the link below to take action RIGHT
NOW.
Tell Governor Cooper: Eliminate unnecessary plastic in state agencies Plastic waste is harmful to our health and wildlife. Tell Governor Cooper that it's time to move beyond plastics.

After years of grassroots advocacy work to get dirty coal
plants shut down, we can't afford to let the fossil fuel
industry shift to plastic production; but that's exactly what's
happening. New fracking operations and petrochemical
facilities are being constructed all over North America right now, poised to pollute our air and water, outstrip coal's
greenhouse gas emissions, and disproportionately poison
and kill Black, brown, and low-income Americans.
Plastic production is harmful for our environment and our
communities. Let's say no to plastic. Learn more here: https://www.propublica.org/article/welcome-to-cancer-alley-where-toxic-air-is-about-to-get-worse
