Pride Month is a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, but also to recognize the reality that LGBTQ+ individuals continue to be disproportionately impacted by targeted violence and hate. Behind these statistics are real people, communities, and lives forever changed. Creating safer spaces begins with valuing one another, showing up for our community and refusing to stay silent in the face of harm. This month, we honor those we’ve lost, stand with those affected by violence, and recommit ourselves to protecting and supporting the LGBTQ+ community every day.
If you need support or would like to report a concern related to violence against the LGBTQ+ community, please visit the links in our bio or connect with NC State LGBTQ Pride Center.
