Justin rides off with Molly during their motorcycle send-off at The Barn at Valhalla. If you’ve photographed weddings long enough, you learn that the final moments of the night rarely go exactly as planned, and sometimes that’s exactly what makes them unforgettable.
The night was wrapping up, and it became clear that they were leaving on Justin’s Harley. We had no practice run, just a pitch-black space, trust in the photographer, and a crowd of friends losing their minds behind them. The bike starts moving. And you know you might only get three… maybe five frames before the moment is gone forever. Knowing once the moment starts, there’s no redo.
That’s the part people don’t always see. The pressure of being the person responsible for preserving the moment exactly as it happened. The photographer becomes the record keeper for a memory that can’t be recreated. But honestly? I don’t really feel the pressure.
After years of weddings, you trust your instincts, your light, and thought process. Justin and Molly’s exit was loud and absolutely perfect. Exactly how a wedding night should end!

I’ve always felt that a wedding day is best documented when it’s allowed to unfold naturally, without forcing every frame. Angie’s bridal portrait happened in one of those in-between moments, just before the ceremony. She was standing near the window placing earrings on when the late afternoon light began to filter in. I turned off the overheads so nothing would compete with the window light. In a way that felt intentional, staged by the day itself. A portrait not planned, but discovered by allowing the day to breathe.

Sometimes, the simplest form of light proves to be the best, much like the one that embraced Gagan. This particular image was captured just moments before the wedding ceremony. You can see Gagan's composure but you can also see a touch of nervous anticipation.

Scotlan beams with joy as she is escorted by Greg to their get a way carriage as friends and famlily send them off while at . I absolutely love bubble exits and lighting them can be challenging at times. How do you I do it? Typically with four lights.
