FRIDAY FUN WITH AI:

Summer is almost a month old.
Be honest...Have you actually had a summer yet?

Not worked during summer.

Not answered emails during summer.

Not looked out the window and noticed summer.

Actually had one.

This week, I asked AI to judge my summer.
The verdict was...uncomfortable.

Unpopular opinion:
Some people aren't overwhelmed because they have too much work.
They're overwhelmed because they keep doing work that no longer needs to be done by humans.

Copying notes.
Status updates.
Reformatting information.
Moving data from one place to another.

Busy doesn't always mean productive.
Sometimes it just means no one has questioned the process.

Question:
What's one task in your business you suspect shouldn't still be manual?

One of my favorite workshop moments involved Debra.
As a LinkedIn trainer, business coach, and owner of Connect Local Raleigh, she wasn't impressed by AI.

In fact, she was quite certain it wasn't something she'd use.

Then I showed her one simple example of how AI could support her work while preserving her voice.
The conversation changed.

You do not have to embrace every shiny new technology.
You just have to recognize when something can strengthen the expertise you already have.

Thank you, Debra, for your trust and kind words.

What assumption about AI might be worth a second look?

TODAY'S AI BYTES:

AI makes "good enough" incredibly easy.
Need a draft? Good enough.

Need a graphic? Good enough.

Need a social post? Good enough.

But over time, "good enough" has a way of showing up everywhere.
In your messaging.
In your customer experience.
In your brand.

This week's AI BYTES explores one of the most important AI skill nobody talks about:
Deciding when good enough is NOT good enough.

Garner Chamber of Commerce Event! JUNE 17TH, 9 AM

AI Isn’t Replacing Your Marketing. It’s Fixing What’s Slowing It Down.
Most organizations are experimenting with AI, but very few are using it strategically. The result is inconsistent messaging, disconnected campaigns, and more noise instead of better results.
In this fast-paced, hands-on session, Kellie Bradley of byteKraft workshops will show how to use AI to align messaging, strengthen strategy, and improve marketing efficiency without adding more work to your day.

You will learn how to:
• Align messaging across channels
• Improve marketing clarity and consistency
• Identify gaps in campaigns and strategy
• Use AI as a practical marketing teammate
• Reduce time spent on repetitive marketing tasks

This is a practical, non-technical session designed for business leaders, marketers, and anyone responsible for growth and visibility.
No hype. No jargon. Just smarter marketing.

SUNDAY SMART SNACK:

Have 600+ unread emails, like I did?
Instead of declaring email bankruptcy...

Connect ChatGPT to your email:

Go to:
APPS→PRODUCTIVITY→(either Outlook or Gmail)→ CONNECT ACCOUNT

Ask it to:
Identify newsletters
Group similar emails
Prioritize urgent messages
Spot follow-ups
Suggest what can be archived

Start with one problem. Not your whole inbox.

Expected outcome:
Less inbox anxiety and a faster path to finding what actually matters Monday morning.

For me, this was a very productive heavy lift.
Watching that 600+ bubble disappear reduced my stress level immediately.

As always, understand your data policies before connecting any AI tool to business email.
Governance still matters.

One more setting I recommend:
Go to PROFILE BUBBLE (lower left hand corner) find→SETTINGS→DATA CONTROLS→TOGGLE "Improve the model for everyone" to OFF.

Most AI frustration is not caused by bad prompts.
It is caused by unclear tasks.

Try replacing:
Help me with marketing.

With:
Help me create a LinkedIn post for small business owners about employee retention.

Specific beats broad every time.

FRIDAY FUN WITH AI:

School is out.
It’s hot.
The children are bored and beginning to go feral, the dog is concerned.

Which means adults everywhere are entering high-stakes negotiations over snacks, screen time, and whether “there’s nothing to do” is actually true.

So this week, I gave AI a summer challenge:
Fix boredom.
On a budget.

Without requiring Pinterest-level parenting skills.

Unpopular opinion:
Some businesses do not have a productivity problem.
They have an administrative friction problem, resulting from outgrown/outdated processes.

Too many approvals.
Too many copy/paste tasks.
Too many status updates.
Too many systems that do not talk to each other.

Then we add AI, without fixing existing friction points.

AI does not automatically remove friction.

Sometimes it just helps you move inefficiently...faster.

Question:
What task in your business creates the most unnecessary friction?

If you could change ONE friction point today, what would it be?

TESTIMONIAL:

AI training should not leave beginners behind, or bore advanced users.
Michael called out something important:
Meeting people where they are.

Practical AI is not about expertise levels.
It is about outcomes.

Thank you Michael for the kind words.

What part of AI still feels harder than it should?
