Now that spring is finally here, many of us will be out in the yard enjoying the sunshine and sprucing things up. Here are a few tips to help make yard work less painful and more productive:
- Use good lifting technique when moving or lifting anything heavy. Squat deep, lift with knees, keep back straight and core engage
- Limit twisting of your torso
- Wear supportive footwear with good arches
- Stretch afterwards to decrease muscle tension and limit soreness
- Stay hydrated if working in warm temperatures for long extended periods of time to prevent dehydration and charlie horse muscle cramps
