Thinking about getting a dashcam?

It might be one of the best investments you make for your vehicle—but there's something most people don't think about.

A dashcam doesn't just record the other driver.

It records you too.

Your speed. Your following distance. Your lane position. Your reactions in the moments leading up to a crash.

That's what makes dashcams so valuable—they don't have opinions, they don't take sides, and they don't forget. They simply capture what happened.

In many cases, that footage can make the difference between proving your version of events and having your word questioned. But it also means you're held to the same standard as everyone else on the road.

If you're going to install a dashcam, drive every day like that footage could be reviewed by an insurance adjuster, a jury, or a judge.

Because one day, it just might be.

Do you have a dashcam in your vehicle? I'd love to hear whether it's ever helped you—or if you're thinking about getting one.

Teaching your teenager how to drive is about so much more than passing a driving test.

Yes, they need to know how to parallel park, back into a parking space, and obey traffic laws. But those skills alone won't keep them safe.

The habits that prevent accidents are the ones many people never think to teach.

Teach them to never assume another driver sees them.

Teach them that a green light doesn't guarantee someone else is going to stop.

Teach them to leave an escape route instead of boxing themselves in between vehicles.

Teach them to look farther down the road instead of focusing only on the car directly in front of them.

Most importantly, teach them that driving isn't about proving you're right—it's about getting home safely.

As a personal injury attorney, I've seen too many crashes where someone technically had the right of way, but that didn't prevent them from suffering life-changing injuries.

The best drivers don't simply react to what's happening around them.

They anticipate what could happen next.

Those are the habits that can stay with your teen for the rest of their life.

If this video helps even one new driver think differently before getting behind the wheel, it's worth sharing.

Drive safe, look out for one another, and help the next generation become defensive—not just licensed—drivers.

The first 30 seconds after a car accident can have a bigger impact on your case than most people realize.

Your adrenaline is pumping. Emotions are high. It's easy to say something you don't mean or overlook important details.

Instead, focus on what matters:

• Make sure everyone is safe.
• Call law enforcement when appropriate.
• Take photos and videos of the vehicles, roadway, and surrounding area.
• Get witness information before people leave.
• Avoid arguing about who's at fault or making statements like "I'm sorry" before all the facts are known.

Those first few moments aren't about winning an argument—they're about preserving the facts.

The decisions you make immediately after a crash can affect insurance claims, liability investigations, and ultimately your ability to recover for your injuries.

Hopefully you'll never need this advice, but if you do, you'll be glad you knew it.

Stay safe out there.

When people think about dangerous driving habits, the first thing that comes to mind is usually texting and driving.

And they're right—it is incredibly dangerous.

But after handling countless motor vehicle accident cases, I've noticed another risk that doesn't get talked about nearly enough: complacency.

The same commute.

The same intersections.

The same routine.

Eventually, many of us stop actively driving and start operating on autopilot. That's when we miss the motorcycle in our blind spot, the pedestrian entering the crosswalk, or the traffic slowing just ahead.

Experience behind the wheel is valuable, but awareness is what keeps you safe.

The next time you get in your car, challenge yourself to stay engaged. Scan farther down the road. Expect other drivers to make mistakes. Eliminate distractions—not just from your phone, but from your mind.

One moment of attention can prevent a lifetime of consequences.

What's one habit you've developed that helps you stay focused while driving? Let me know in the comments.

When most people think about beach injuries, they think about rip currents, jellyfish, or maybe even sharks.

Very few people think about the beach umbrella sitting just a few feet away.

But every summer, strong winds send unsecured umbrellas flying across crowded beaches. What starts as a relaxing day in the sun can turn into a serious emergency in seconds. A beach umbrella isn't just a piece of shade—it can become a dangerous projectile capable of causing significant injuries.

The good news? These incidents are often preventable.

If you're bringing an umbrella to the beach, take a few extra minutes to secure it properly. Push the anchor deep into the sand, angle it into the wind, and pay attention to changing weather conditions throughout the day. If the wind begins to pick up, don't assume your umbrella will be fine because it's been standing all morning. Conditions can change quickly.

As a personal injury attorney, I've learned that many accidents happen during everyday activities that people never expect to be dangerous. A trip to the beach should end with great memories—not a trip to the emergency room.

There's also an important legal side to these incidents. If an unsecured umbrella injures someone, liability isn't always straightforward. It may depend on who owned the umbrella, who was responsible for securing it, whether it was rented through a business or resort, or whether reasonable precautions were taken under the circumstances. Every situation is different, which is why it's so important to understand the facts before jumping to conclusions.

The easiest way to avoid all of that?

Take an extra minute to secure your umbrella before you sit down and enjoy the day.

A little preparation can protect not only your family but everyone around you.

Now I'm curious...

Have you ever actually seen a beach umbrella get picked up by the wind and go flying down the beach? It seems like almost everyone has a story.

PSA: PUT THE DAMN PHONE DOWN

"Just one text"

The problem is that a crash only takes one distraction.

Every day, people convince themselves that reading or sending a quick message can wait until the next stoplight, the next turn, or the next mile. Unfortunately, that's often all the time it takes for a life to change forever.

As a personal injury attorney, I've seen the aftermath of distracted driving. Families don't remember what the text said—they remember the phone call telling them someone had been seriously hurt.

No text is worth risking your life or someone else's.

Put the phone down. The message will still be there when you arrive.

Drive first. Text later.

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. It's a time for family, friends, cookouts, and celebrating our country's independence.

Unfortunately, it's also one of the busiest times of the year for emergency rooms.

Every year, people suffer serious burns, hand injuries, eye injuries, and other preventable accidents involving fireworks. In many cases, those injuries happen because of simple mistakes: trying to relight a firework that didn't go off, standing too close after lighting the fuse, allowing children to use fireworks without close supervision, or mixing alcohol with fireworks.

If you're celebrating this year, take a few extra seconds to think about safety. Keep spectators at a safe distance. Have a bucket of water or a hose nearby. Follow the instructions on the fireworks, and never assume a firework that didn't ignite is safe to approach immediately.

A few simple precautions can make the difference between a great memory and a life-changing injury.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July, and if you're attending a fireworks show, enjoy it with the people who matter most.

What are your Fourth of July traditions? Fireworks, cookouts, the lake, or the beach? Let me know in the comments!

🏆 ESPN Top 5 — Careless Things People Are Doing To Cause Accidents

Look… nobody wakes up and says “today I’m going to cause a crash.”

But some of the things people do while driving make absolutely no sense.

Phones. Food. Dogs. Filming. GPS panic.

Driving is somehow the only activity where people think multitasking makes them better.

Drop your additions below because I KNOW I missed some.

Worst one I see next might become Part 2.
