What a way to start the day! A warm glow on everything and the blueberries are so close to being ready! Should only be another couple of weeks before we're eating them 🙂🫐

Alyssa CB - Plant Detective! What's wrong with this basil?! After a couple of weeks of noticing mold and random necrosis on otherwise healthy stems, I decided to get to the bottom of this. 🧐
First, I remembered something similar on tomatoes called Pith Necrosis and went to my handy resource here: https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/tomato-diseases-disorders/
Then I googled Basil Pith Necrosis... no results there, but a sentence on a link caught my eye so I went here: https://u.osu.edu/miller.769/2017/06/
That's a lot of words so I searched to find "Necrosis" and then "mold," and lo! Right above the paragraphs on Pith Necrosis is info on Botrytis Grey Mold! (Which reminded me of a convo with Matt and Chase years ago from Endless Sun Produce about this disease).
Bam. Subsequent search on Botrytis Grey Mold in basils and there is our culprit!
Time to trim up these plants, get some more air flow, try to increase the temperature in the greenhouse, and keep an eye on things. Fingers crossed it doesn't spread to much more!
