On Tuesday our family said goodbye to our beloved Grandmother Barbara D’Aubin Martin.

Although she was very proud of her family name, consistently finding any opportunity to point out her heritage, she was equally pleased by the name that she was given by her eldest Grandson.. “Goomie”.

Goomie has been a fixture in all of our lives for so long. I remember being so excited when she would fly down from her family home in Nova Scotia to visit us as kids, always bringing us presents and the highly coveted Canadian Kinder Eggs. She was always baking, always knitting sweaters for the kids and even clothing for our dolls. She loved us dearly and was such a proper, kind and polite woman. Her heart was eternally innocent, she often used to say that “she didn’t like people very much but there wasn’t an animal she met that she didn’t love”.

In her later years, when living alone just wasn’t feasible anymore, we moved Goomie into the Bryant home here in NC. Caring for the elderly can be a very rewarding act of service, especially when it is a family member. However, anyone who has been a caregiver for an aging parent or relative will surely tell you just how hard it can be. As we age we often regress in many ways. Some days Goomie was like a 5 year old, deliberately doing things she knew we didn’t want her doing for her own safety, and she’d look you right in the eye while doing them 😂. It takes so much Patience and so much energy to be a caregiver. My Mom did an amazing job loving her Mother to the very end, even when it was hard. My Dad has always treated Goomie like his own mother, taking care to ensure that she had the little treats she loved and made it to every doctors appointment possible. I am glad that I got to take care of her too during these last few years that I’ve been home.

91 years on this Earth and my Grandmother was beautiful in every single one of them.

After a few days of some solid rest and reflection, I’m filled with nothing but love and gratitude. The Solar Return Tour was a beautiful little success in our book! I went to places I’ve only ever seen on screens and met folks that I have heard legends of, told to me by . It was wonderful to finally meet and , their love and hospitality are unmatched ( as well as their hand roasted beans 🤤). Spending time with on the road was full of meaningful and deep discussion (my fav kind, for sure) and getting to see doing his thing was an absolute treat. Most of all, seeing shine on that stage, powerful and strong, was a profound gift. We planned this tour for his birthday and I know that it will be one that we always remember.

Thank you to every human who came out to our shows, big and small. To all who bought merch, helped us book, hosted our weary heads and supported our pre-tour fundraiser. A huge thanks to all of our fellow artists who shared stages with us! We love you all and appreciate the opportunity to do what we love in a way that is meaningful and rewarding.

There are so many of you to thank and so many more photos and videos to share, but for now, please know that we are grateful to you all! 💕🙏🏻
