Some horses come into our lives to teach us, stretch us, and quietly shape who we become. For me, that horse was MB Royal Express.

Opie was the first young horse that was truly my own, and with him came a journey full of lessons, patience, and deep understanding. He challenged me, humbled me, and opened my eyes to the depth of the horse’s mind and heart in ways I never expected.

We shared many experiences — the good, the hard, and everything in between. Though our paths separated for a time, fate brought him back to me, and I had the gift of being with him through his final days.

Opie had a lasting impact on everyone he spent time with during the years he wasn’t with me. When he returned to me, I had the pleasure of sharing him with a dear friend who loved him just as much as I did — someone who saw his heart the same way I did and gave him the gift of a second deep connection with a human who truly understood him.

We miss him terribly. But the lessons, the love, and the bond we shared will always stay with us — because horses like Opie never really leave you.

Every barn has a matriarch — a horse whose presence is felt the moment you step in the arena. For us, that’s By Golly I’m Hot.

Sired by the legendary Blazing Hot, “Molly” had an incredibly successful show career with my mom, taking care of her through countless classes and moments in the ring. She was as honest and dependable as they come — a true partner and competitor.

Now lovingly known as Queen Molly around the barn, she’s enjoying a well-earned semi-retirement with me. I think my mom is proud to see her thriving — living out her days with sunshine, naps, snacks, and a little light teaching on the side.

In her spare time (when she’s not grazing or napping), Molly continues to guide riders — helping them sharpen their skills and deepen their partnership with their horses.

She gave her all in the show pen, and now she gives just as much in her quiet, thoughtful way — still making a difference, just as she always has.
