Happy June, everyone!
I've been looking forward to our theme for June all year. Our theme this month is: Prop It Up!
If you have ever taken a class with me, you know I love me some yoga props. Give me all the blankets, bolsters, and chairs!
Over the next 4 weeks we will explore different props used in yoga, from the classics like blocks and straps to the more avant-garde, such as resistance bands or balls.
We will learn the how and why behind using props in yoga: when to use them and how they can enhance your practice. I can't wait to share this month on the mat with you! (Also, your yoga mat counts as a prop!)
Now you tell me: What is your favorite yoga prop? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve been busy putting up flyers all over town for Yoga Camp! Let me know if you see one. If you can find all 6 in Reading, I’ll give you a free yoga class!

Lately I've noticed that my students are carrying a lot. Heartache, grief, family stress, work stress, physical injuries, aches and pains.
These are normal parts of being human, but that doesn't make them any any easier.
When life is physically or emotionally (or both!) intense, I try to prioritize self-care, because whenever I make time to be on my yoga mat for even 15-20 minutes, I feel SO MUCH BETTER. Mentally and physically. And that enables me to show up with more clarity of purpose, more connection, and more kindness to those around me, and even towards myself.
My students were telling me this week that for just a little while during class they could put aside the stresses that were bothering them, and they felt refreshed enough to get through the rest of their day.
It's not magic. It's just a little space and time to breathe and move and be present. That's the true gift of yoga.
If you are feeling the challenges of human life these days, I hope you'll give yourself some much-deserved TLC and join me on the mat. Drop-ins and beginners always welcome.
