Structure Fire at Oak Forest Apartment Complex

Muhlenberg Township, PA – On June 11, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Oak Forest Apartment Complex, located at 2251 and 2271 Hampden Boulevard, Reading, Pennsylvania.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a significant fire involving Buildings G and H of the apartment complex. A two-alarm response was subsequently confirmed, bringing additional fire and emergency resources to the scene.

Approximately 75 fire personnel from 12 fire companies responded to the incident, including Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue, the Reading Fire Department, Central Fire Company, and mutual aid companies from Wyomissing, Western Berks, and Mount Penn. Additional support resources were requested through a special call, including the Souderton Canteen units.

Fire suppression operations continued throughout the evening, with emergency personnel remaining on scene until approximately 2:00 a.m. on June 12, 2026.

A total of 20 apartment units within Buildings G and H were affected by the fire. Fortunately, all residents were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries to residents or emergency responders were reported.

Both buildings sustained significant damage as a result of the fire. Assistance and support services are being coordinated for displaced residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal's Office.

Muhlenberg Township would like to thank all responding fire, EMS, law enforcement, utility, and support personnel for their coordinated efforts and dedication throughout this incident.

Today, members of the Muhlenberg Township Police Department were honored to assist with the funeral services for fallen Officer Yeager of the Central Berks Police Regional Department .

Our Motorcycle Officers assisted with the funeral procession, while officers assigned to the Berks County Emergency Response Team provided security and support throughout the event. It was a privilege to stand alongside our law enforcement brothers and sisters from across the region as we paid our final respects to Officer Yeager.
