It’s Tankmate Tuesday!
Today’s tankmate is the Kuhli Loach, or Pangio semicincta. These striped noodles are constantly competing with our Snow White Bristlenoses for the title of goofiest Bottom Feeder.
A great addition to many community tanks, Kuhli Loaches are social fish best kept in groups of 8-10 or more. They often spend their days snoozing in a tangle inside one of the pleco caves or crammed into the nooks and crannies of logs and rocks, and come out in the evening to look for snacks and trouble.

As Bristlenose Plecos approach maturity, you can use body shape, size, and the presence of facial bristles to determine if they are male or female. The Lemon Blue-Eyed fish pictured could still surprise us and sprout bristles, but at 2.5 inches long, is most likely a female!
What do you think?

Our Bristlenose Plecos are relatively small compared to many Plecos, reaching a maximum size of around six inches. If you’re looking for something smaller, consider Neocaridina or Cherry shrimp!
Neocaridina come in a variety of colors and are a great addition to many peaceful community tanks, or by themselves in tanks as small as 3 to 5 gallons. What's your favorite color?
How many Bristlenose Plecos can you count?
Pictured are some of our juvenile Snow White and Super Red Bristlenoses sharing a log. Mopani wood is a great, long-lasting wood with lots of nooks that our Plecos love to explore.

"Common" who? Bristlenose plecos are found in several colorations, and there are several patterns of black, gray, and brown that are all referred to as the "common" bristlenose.
Despite being "common," we find their variegated patterns beautiful. Pictured is a common long-finned bristlenose pleco who is available today for local delivery or shipping.
