One of my favourite plants for adding a natural, relaxed elegance to a planting scheme is Veronica × ‘Seaside’
This beautiful speedwell forms soft mounds of fresh green foliage topped with delicate spikes of lavender-blue flowers that seem to dance above the border throughout summer. It’s a wonderfully versatile perennial that brings movement, texture, and a gentle haze of colour to the garden.
As a garden designer, I love using Veronica × ‘Seaside’ because it blends effortlessly with so many planting styles. It works beautifully alongside ornamental grasses, echinacea, salvias, and other pollinator-friendly perennials, helping to create that naturalistic, layered look that feels both contemporary and timeless.
Beyond its beauty, it’s also hardworking long-flowering, attractive to bees and butterflies, and easy to incorporate into sunny borders. The airy flower spikes soften stronger shapes in a planting scheme and help create a sense of rhythm throughout the garden.
