Fabric is important when choosing curtains, especially since the material will affect how well the curtains will function and hold up over time. Also, if the room in question gets a lot of exterior light, it is smart to avoid bright colors since fading could occur.

Some curtain fabrics are better suited for certain rooms than others. Sheers go great with curtains, however, sheers allow light to pass through and they are not ideal if privacy is the objective.
