Modern fur coats are the essence of eco-fashion. The fur industry is closely regulated, and endangered species are never used. Fur is harvested from sustainable, renewable resources; and fur clothing can be repeatedly recycled, restyled, and reused.

Be sure to check the natural pelting of a fur coat before you purchase it. When the fur coat contains natural striping down the center, be sure that these are color consistent. Also, find a spot where you can stretch the fur coat out completely, checking for any patchiness or imperfections that you may have overlooked.

Country of origin is important when buying certain furs and the label will tell you what you need to know. If it is mink you are looking to buy, the top-of-the-line pelts come from Finland, Denmark, and the United States.
