I have always heard our hearts are a garden. I thought I was the one tilling the soil of my heart. The one going through and planting, watering, pulling weeds, keeping track of everything.

Then as I began to grow tired from all of the effort, all of the striving, all of the performance, I noticed my garden was still producing fruit. It was still being tended. I leaned in and saw a Gardener, bent over, planting something.

When I asked Him, “Sir how did you get here?” He looked up with that familiar smile - “ I have been here all along. Planting where you thought there was nothing, pulling weeds where you didn’t see them yet growing, and watering that you would always have more than enough.”

Wherever you are at - know that Jesus tends your heart when you lean in and let Him do the work. It’s not passive, it’s quite messy and it will bring up a lot of rocks and weeds but it is WORTH IT.
