Many of us have learned to love through the lens of performance.
We give, serve, accommodate, and show up for others, but receiving love can feel much harder. Why? Because at some point in time, for most of our childhood, we started to believe that love must be earned.
When that belief takes root, people-pleasing becomes a way of securing connection, and exhaustion is the result.
But God’s love doesn’t operate on a performance system. The more secure we become in being loved by Him, the more freedom we have to love others without losing ourselves in the process. Love is meant to flow through us, not drain us.
As you reflect today, consider:
• Do I find it easier to give love or receive it?
• Where am I still trying to earn what God freely gives me?
• What would change if I truly believed I was already deeply loved?
The invitation isn’t to love more by trying harder. It’s to receive more deeply from the One who is love and allow that love to overflow to others.
What if the exhaustion you’re feeling isn’t from loving too much—but from trying to earn love that has already been freely given?
If you’re ready to explore the beliefs that keep you stuck in performance, people-pleasing, or striving for acceptance, our Sozo ministry and pastoral counseling teams are here to help. Freedom often begins with discovering just how deeply loved you already are.

What if the areas you once felt ashamed of are actually the places God wants to bring comfort and connection through your life? Someone around you may be silently asking, “Has anyone else felt this way before?”

Healing doesn’t just impact you. It ripples outward into the lives of the people around you. Sometimes the very thing you walked through becomes the language someone else needs to feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Your story may become the lifeline of hope that gives someone else permission to step out of isolation and into healing. What God restores in us often becomes encouragement, freedom, or courage for someone else. Whether you realize it or not, someone is watching your courage, your honesty, and your decision to keep showing up in alignment with God.

What healing in your own life could create ripples of freedom in someone else’s life?
