Lower Sacramento River Fishing Report - 7/20/2022
Getting out at day break pays off for beating the heat and catching more fish. We have been picking up fish from early morning-on. The flows from Keswick Dam are at 4120 cfs and staying consistent. This means more hook ups, with an average of 25 to 35 fish a day per boat.
Now that the days are hotter, the fish are holding in the deep runs/holes and riffles.
We are hooking up under our custom made Invisible Strike Indicators. With dead drifting and swinging in the riffles and tail-outs it’s a very productive way of catching fish!

Fishing Report, Lower Sacramento River
The past few weeks have been great picking up fish from sun up to sun down. Now that the flows being released from Keswick Dam are around 3800 cfs, from 3200 cfs, the dynamics of the river has changed a bit. The fish are now in transition to new holding spots/places, with flows being consistent for a few days now the bite is picking back up from 10 to 20 fish a day, to 30 to 40 fish a day per boat, with an average of 18” to 23” and a few that were quite a bit more impressive.
Most of the fish are picked up under an indicator and swinging in the riffles at the head of the runs and in the deeper tailouts, with a few in the seams. Now that we are moving into the hotter months, fish will be holding in the deep holes, runs and heavily oxygenated riffles. Along with the banks that are heavily shaded to escape the heat and the birds of prey.
