The City of Redding Communications Team: Downtown Community Engagement Award.

The City of Redding Communications department is recognized for its outstanding presence in public engagement and for being a strong voice in promoting arts and culture, community programming, development, design, and commerce within the City of Redding.

Through historic ribbon cuttings, like the reopening of Market Street; designing street banners; creating community walking maps; and sharing information about programming, the City of Redding Communications Team continues to excel in uplifting and informing our area.

Hot Dogs for the Big Dogs. An American pastime was held during the July edition of First Fridays: Downtown Redding’s first-ever community hot dog eating contest! 🌭

Whistlestop Park was jam packed with an audience supporting their loved ones competing for the title of THE BIG DOG of Redding. A few tables, chairs, some contestants, and MOUNTAINS of hot dogs by Bad Dog Redding made this event a star spangled smash hit.

Congrats to the winner, Abraham Reynaga, of Shasta Food. Eight hot dogs in five minutes. (These are Polish-sized dogs.)

Thank you to Dave Muang from Leadership Redding, the Leadership Redding Class of 2025, the hot dog eating participants and Bad Dog Redding for bringing the inaugural hot dog eating contest to our Main Street.
