Thanks-filled Thanksgiving
Well, this year we didn’t have turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes or cranberry sauce. On Thanksgiving Day, our little yet growing, Jireh Hill Church, hosted a medical clinic for our community and we were happy to see over 150 people receive love, medical care, and prayer.
We are so thankful to have been a part of bringing five different churches together to serve our community. A medical team of twelve from Cornerstone Church Singapore manned the treatment stations and pharmacy while our local church members served as translators, registration staff, entertainers, cooks, drivers, prayer and care givers. It was a lot of work. There was blood, sweat, and tears, but at the end of the two days we enjoyed a full and happy feeling. If anyone still has Thanksgiving leftovers I’m available.

Fitness… a family affair
Our Sports days are growing in all directions, and have now become a family affair. Our initial focus was simply on bringing sports and ‘healthy habits’ to the local kids in our village, but we are now happy see many fathers and whole families getting involved. We are also so thankful to have found a place that we can consistently call our sports field. Our Jireh Hill church (Robert and Wanda) found a beautiful place that provides a huge space for sports, an area to develop permaculture gardens, and also has a small house that offers a comfortable home for Kim, Sokunthea, and their two kids. It’s wonderful to see how the branches of a dream can grow out in so many directions.

Work Hard! Play Hard!
Well, this is a long time in coming, but it’s because we are still recovering. These guys we work with, live with, eating with…do life with are amazing! And, sometimes you just gotta have a water balloon fight, egg relay, and Cambodian pinjata dance along with some yummy barbeque to celebrate. So, that’s what we did!

Having friends over for lunch…
Sometimes you head out and sometimes you ask in; not long ago our little Jireh Hill church invited some of our community in for lunch at the Arts Café. We had great conversation, music, laughter, and a few learning moments. Many, if not all, had never experienced a buffet and the possibility of going back to the table of food as often as you like. In Cambodia, the number of single moms and widows is sad to see, but their strength and smiles are inspiring. We love ‘doing life’ in this place, in this community of people. So, it was a great afternoon of friendship, food, and fun. And, if Cambodia is calling, please pick up…. we’d love to have you here.

Rom – The Woodworking Wonder
Among countless other creations, Rom has just completed ten new desks for our local school. Over the last few months, he has made chairs, tables, stools, cabinets, picture frames, and even a podium. With your help we were able to provide a set of tools that has made his work much smoother. While the wood in Cambodia is quite good quality, it often comes in random shapes and sizes. So, Rom carefully cuts, plains, and sands each piece. We are hoping to get him a table saw some time this year, which I know will bring a big smile to his face and a little more ease to his beautiful work. Thank you for helping us to find and develop his craft.
