It was the 1990’s, and actor Cameron Arnett’s career was on the rise. He had just finished a movie and was about to sign on for a starring role in a huge television series. There was only one problem: the contract required him to do partial-body nudity.

“By that point in time, I had become a bonafide Christian, a real one.”

Cameron told his agent he could not do the nudity, as he was a Christian. His agent checked with the producers and they came back with a tempting counteroffer: Cameron could have a body double instead.

At first, Cameron liked the idea and was eager to sign. But then, something happened…

“We go and sign on the dotted line, and the Holy Spirit taps me on the shoulder and says, ‘No, you have to shun even the appearance of evil, because they will think that that's you. Christ over career.’”

Cameron was obedient to God’s leading, but he did not reap any immediate rewards. Instead, his story is similar to Joseph’s in the book of Genesis. Cameron lost everything—friendships, clout and career. He counted it all joy, though, and went on to become a pastor for the next two decades, until….

One day, God told Cameron to audition for his first role in a Christian movie. Cameron hated auditions, but he went and he landed the role. Then, he boldly presented this request to the Lord:

“You know who I am. You know how Hollywood really kind of ate me up and chewed me up and spit me out. I don't want to chase this. I will never chase this again. So, do the impossible. Give me what You want without me having to audition.”

Sixty-five films later, and seven different television series, Cameron can say he only had to audition that first time. Like Joseph, God completely turned his circumstances around in His timing and for His purposes.

“I tell you this story for you to understand—this is what He wants to do for us. No, you don't have to sell your soul. No, you don't have to compromise. No, you don't have to be afraid. We serve the Almighty God who is doing something with us or without us. He wants us to get involved with it and do it His way supernaturally.”
