The Tamale Project

Our Story

The Tamale Project was developed to get my foot in the door to starting a food cart. I got tired of the overpriced-dry-not enough flavor-too gourmet-ish tamales out there & could never find anything that reminded me of home (San Antonio, TX). I decided to make my own! I called my grandma for her recipe & of course, like all grandmas, she gave me the ingredients but no measurements. She said, “I don’t know mija, you’ll just feel it”. After many attempts (& I do mean many), I finally came to something that she would be proud of. I create very simple & traditional (to my family) tamales that are all made by hand. I am a full time student with the dream & passion of doing something that I love, cooking. After the corporate jobs I decided it was time for a change (life is too short). This project will be the start to see if my tamales make the cut for a food cart or become a vendor at events/farmers markets. I am just starting out and would love your feedback
