Spend a day getting to know our only salt marsh turtle, the diamondback terrapin. This Saturday, join us to learn about the life history of this threatened species and how we're trying to help boost their populations on the Cape. This workshop will include a lecture and then a field experience to release "headstarted" hatchlings at beautiful Sandy Neck in Barnstable. We'll also look for signs of nesting turtles. These eastern milksnakes show how
variable color can be in this species with age. The brighter red color in younger individuals fades to brown with age.
These two snakes were found coiled together under the same cover object, so holding them together did not risk the spread of snake fungal disease. They were both clean and lesion free as well.
