Richter Performance is doing it all and they are doing it right!! Give them a shout if your North of the Border. They stock are converters and many other high quality parts for all your needs. Thanks for allowing us to be in on so many great builds boys!!
The Caddy Project is 98% complete and she is back in the owner’s hands. Wow - what a smile on his face to have his car home and be able to drive it before winter settles in. The maiden voyage was one of pure happiness. The extra 250hp that the Brian Tooley Racing-cammed 5.3L delivers is everything the owner could have hoped for and more.
We used a few pretty cool pieces in this build. The Dakota Digital conversion box, which takes the PCM’s speed output and spins the factory speedometer’s cable-driven gauge was an awesome way to keep the factory gauges functioning. We also added an oil pressure and coolant temperature gauge rather than the factory dummy lights for monitoring what’s going on. Electric fans were added to the new radiator that Don from Don's Radiator had built for us with upgraded transmission cooling capabilities, as we did add a 3000 stall Yank Performance converter to the 4L60E.
We have a couple minor things to finish up including the air conditioning (which he probably doesn’t really need right now) and cruise control.
We were asked a few times what intrigued us about taking this project on, as it isn’t your typical “hot rod”. These builds are something we love to do for people that have a vehicle with such sentimental value. Like all the cars we work on, we take pride in our work and treat these vehicles like we would our own.
So to answer why this project? Because there is no feeling like handing a set of Cadillac keys back to the 80-year-old owner, shaking his hand, hearing “job well done” and watching him leave the parking lot with one tire lit up in smoke while hearing all the RPM’s. That’s why we do what we do!
Happy 4th of July everyone!! Yank will be closed today and tomorrow. We will be back at it on Monday. Enjoy your holiday weekend!
