Are you afraid of the dark?
This is a question I asked Aubriana the other day.
When she stopped in her tracks because the lights were off in the hallway.
As she stopped she simply said...lights.
Now a normal person would have turned the lights on and gone about their day walking through the hallway.
I’m not necessarily normal though, so I did something a bit different.
I kept the lights off, told Aubriana that its going to be ok.
Told her to hold my hand.
That the dark isn’t scary.
And we walked through that dark hallway together.
Hand in hand.
I didn’t force her to face the fear.
I didn’t make her do it on her own.
I guided her to challenge the fear that had been constructed in her young mind.
And she didn’t even question it.
Because she trusts me to guide her.
To keep her safe.
Always have her best interest in mind.
Something profound came about as a result.
She no longer stops when a room is dark.
The inherent fear doesn’t persist.
Now there’s a lesson to be learned here.
The dark and fear in general.
Can be scary.
Lonely.
Disturbing.
It can stop you in your tracks.
And as human being you inherently have a fear distilled in you.
It’s a product of evolution to keep you alive.
And sometimes the only way to break past this fear is to have someone hold your hand.
Tell you that’s it’s going to be ok.
And to guide you to a place where fear no longer exists.
The most difficult, yet empowering thing a person can do, is to ask for help.
You come first. You are worth it. Never forget that.

No one hates exercise.
Yeah… I said it.
Absolutely NO one.
I get that may seem a bit presumptuous to think I know how people feel.
However, you don’t have to believe me until I prove it.
So here it goes…
Imagine you tell 3 people to go exercise.
What’s gonna happen?
One person may go jog around the block.
Another person may start doing jumping jacks.
Another person may start dancing.
Now, here’s what’s funny.
Someone may say they hate exercise, and in the same breath say they enjoy dancing.
Well wait a second…
Isn’t someone exercising when they’re dancing?
You see, “exercise” is just a label for countless activities.
People don’t hate the label.
They hate what they associate with that label.
If someone believes “exercise” = mindlessly running on a treadmill for an hour at a time…
Then yes, they may not enjoy that.
However, if someone believes exercise = playing with their dog in the park...
Then they may love THIS kind of exercise.
So it’s impossible to say how you feel about exercise until you define a specific kind.
The key is to discover what kind of exercise you DO love.
Make exercise an adventure.
Something you look forward to.
And not just a other miserable thing.
