Dear RIZP Community,
We have important news about the future of the Renton Innovation Zone Partnership (RIZP). Our leadership team has made the decision to sunset the organization at the end of 2025. This wasn’t an easy choice—but one made with care and deep respect for the community that’s shaped us since the beginning.
This past year, we’ve seen major shifts in nonprofit funding. At the same time, we believe RIZP has done what we set out to do. Much of the work we were created to lead—especially building bridges between families, schools, and systems—has taken root. The timing felt right to sunset, intentionally.
This isn’t goodbye just yet. RIZP’s programs will continue in 2025:
⭐Our Spring Bling event supported 73 incoming 6th-graders and 222 families—with 260+ attendees. We also donated $2,000 to Dimmitt Middle School’s building fund.
⭐Our Summer Learning Program returns July 7–August 15 at Bryn Mawr Elementary.
⭐And this fall, we’ll gather for a community celebration.
To every student, family, educator, organization, supporter, and neighbor—thank you!
It’s been our honor to serve alongside you.

A Brief History and Vision of the Renton Innovation Zone Partnership
The Renton Innovation Zone Partnership (RIZP) connects communities and schools to drastically improve the well-being of children and their academic performance in the service areas of four elementary schools in the Renton School District: Lakeridge, Bryn Mawr, Campbell Hill and Highlands.
In 2011, Lakeridge Elementary, one of the state’s lowest performing schools, was identified for the Federal School Improvement Grant to support school turnaround to build a strong culture for social emotional learning. Based on the dramatic success of Lakeridge by 2015, the Renton School District (RSD) had the vision for West Hill Now!, and sought to scale that improvement to Campbell Hill and Bryn Mawr Elementary School in 2016. In February 2017, RSD expanded these efforts to include Highlands Elementary School and called the comprehensive, multi-year initiative the Renton Innovation Zone.
The Renton School District recognized that for children to truly thrive, schools can’t do it alone. They needed full partnership with families and community. In partnership with the Community Center on Education Results (CCER), King County and King County Housing Authority, RSD convened community stakeholders in August 2017, which launched the RIZ Partnership Steering Committee (PSC). Since then, the RIZ PSC has grown to over 35 different agencies involved in the RIZ leadership and action team structures that includes: Basic Needs, Community & Family Engagement and Early Learning.
By the 2022-2023 school year, the Renton Innovation Zone Partnership will raise student outcomes to...
