Today is World Alzheimer's Day, a day to reflect on this debilitating disease and our desperate need for effective interventions. Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) affects 6.5 million people in the US and indirectly, it touches the lives of a far greater number of family members and caregivers. There is no cure for AD, so early intervention is vital to reducing its impact.
🔬 With NIH support, Parabon is developing an early AD detection system using smartphones to administer convenient, in-depth cognitive screenings and engaging cognitive health monitoring through game-like activities. By enabling regular at-home testing, it is intended to help spot mild cognitive impairment and early-stage dementia linked to AD.
🌟 But that's not all! Parabon has also received NIH grant funding to create a groundbreaking genetic risk prediction model for AD. Using DNA from a conventional collection kit, it predicts one’s AD risk at any age, enabling early intervention and helping researchers better stratify cohorts for AD clinical trials.
With these innovative initiatives, built using our company's machine learning and DNA expertise, we're taking bold steps towards a brighter future in the fight against Alzheimer's Disease. 💜
