Working to improve spinal health care through patient education, research, and patient advocacy.

In case you missed it, we launched this Spine Talk during Scoliosis Awareness Month.

The human spine is uniquely designed to support an upright body. Unlike other animals that distribute their weight across four limbs, humans rely on a spine that balances the head, shoulders, and torso over just two legs.

In this conversation, Dr. Plais explains how this evolutionary design depends on three natural spinal curves that provide balance, absorb stress, and allow efficient movement. When these curves or spinal alignment change, it can affect overall spinal health and may contribute to conditions such as scoliosis.

Watch the full Spine Talk to explore the science behind spinal health and why understanding the spine is essential for early awareness.

A scoliosis diagnosis doesn't mean pressing pause on childhood. 💙

Kids with scoliosis can run, swim, dance, compete, and keep doing the things they love. For many children, early detection and bracing can help guide a growing spine, reduce the need for surgery, and keep them active along the way.

Together with the Cotrel Foundation, we're helping spread one important message: know the signs, ask questions early, and remember a brace doesn't define what a child can achieve.

Could a 30-second look change your child's path? 🦴

Scoliosis affects an estimated 1 in 30–100 school-age children and because it's typically painless, it often goes unnoticed until curves progress. Early detection changes everything.
